Charles Eugene Reed, age 89, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away at home with his family around him on Thursday, October 26, 2017.  He was born on March 22, 1928 in Jackson, Michigan, the son of Walter LaVern and Luella Eva (Trumble) Reed.  On April 9, 1955, Charles married Bonnie Belle McIntyre in Grandville, Michigan.

     Charles was employed by Central Michigan University as a Professor of Health Education for twenty-two years.  He was the holder of five degrees, including three Masters Degrees, one PhD, and at the time of his death was working on a PhD in Theology.  He was a member of the Gideons and enjoyed reading, golfing and gardening.  He was a veteran of the US Army, serving from April 1946 until December 1949.

     Charles is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two sons, Sidney W. Reed of Branson, Missouri and Mark E. Reed of Lansing; four grandchildren, Colby, Ethan, Kathryn and Hope.  Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Reed, both parents, daughter in law, Janalyce Reed and a sister and her husband, Patricia and Edward Pulse.

     In following the wishes of the family, burial has already taken place at Riverside Cemetery. A memorial service celebrating Charles’s life will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the Maranatha Baptist Church, 1526 Airway Road, Mt. Pleasant.  Friends may gather with the family at the church from 10 -11 a.m.
